ARCOmadrid 2018 will bring together a total of 211 galleries from 29 countries, 160 of which make up the General Programme, in addition to the curated sections: “what is going to happen is not “the future”, but what we are going to do”, with a selection of 20 galleries; Dialogues, with 14 and Opening, with 19.
Now on its 37th edition, ARCOmadrid 2018 hinges on the concept of “the future” as a point of departure for the exploration, not so much of what is yet to happen, but rather our ability to intervene in it.
Carlos Urroz, director of this year’s event, looks into the fair’s objectives, the Latin American presence, and the unique atmosphere that spills out of the fair and into the city.
Chus Martínez, curator of The Future section along with co-curators Rosa Lleó and Elise Lammer, presents twenty artists of different generations and diverse origins and art practices to delve into the idea of the future as a form of training to get closer to the mindset of the artists themselves.
