- Cacabelos, León, 1942 - The artist José Carralero was born in this region in 1942, although he lives in Madrid, where he has been Professor of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University for more than thirty years. Monument to the cinema (2003), is a public sculpture depicting a movie roll, that perfectly addresses the duality of public art-visual culture. Is a work of eight and a half meters high and eight thousand kilos, made of corten steel located in one of the main roundabouts of Ponferrada, Spain. With the technique of digital image processing, in the "frames" of the sculpture you can see moments from the films "The Holy Innocents", "Casablanca "," Le voyage dans la Lune "," An Andalusian dog "," The great dictator "," Ciudano Kane "," 400 hits "," King Kong "," 2001.
